The images of the people on the street in 2009 are so very different. Everywhere there was a new vitality, confidence and lightness of spirit that was absent on my first visit. Speaking the language and having a Lithuanian heritage made photographing people very easy. That many were amused by my antiquated 1930′s Lithuanian, inherited from my parents, also helped because laughter brings people together.
